Hey, what's up? I'm Criticcorner. Basically, I'm a critic. I'm gonna try to review 1 flash a day. Make a good flash, and I'll compliment you. If you make a sucky animation, I'm going to rip you a new one. -SHINSEGUMEA SUCKS!

Link's Prize

"A very good animation"

submission: Link's Prize
date: April 26, 2008

Kudos! This animation was very good. I'm surprised that this was your first submission, it's really well done! I really hope you do some more stuff like this, because your art and animation styles are very good. Now that my summary is done, time for the in depth review:

Artwork- Top notch here. The character model for link was very accurate here, and you did a fine job of drawing him. The backgrounds, especially, were spectacular, and the drawing of the cow, even, was not half-assed. I enjoyed a lot of your artwork, and thought it was a great job. On my scale, you get 10 out of 10 paintbrushes.

Animation- You have an excellent animation style, and that is what sold this animation for me. The hand-drawn looking style gives it a warm feel, and really makes Link's actions look very realistic. You didn't over-do anything, which I thought was good, and you put a lot of detail into simple actions that most animators don't take into account. On my scale, you get 10 out of 10 frames.

Sound Quality- Although there was not much sound in this cartoon, the sound you did use was of very high quality. I enjoyed Link's yawns, and the subtle background music was enjoyable. Towards the end, the cow moo and Link's reaction were great, and were synced really well, and really made that joke. On my scale, you get 9 out of 10 microphones

Sub Category, Humor- The joke towards the end really allowed me to walk away from this flash with a grin on my face. The unexpected twist was eased, and wasn't over-exagerated, which enhanced the quality of the joke. The moo and following scream were just at the right volume to make me laugh, but not too loud so that it frightened me. For that, you get 7 out of 10 chuckles.

Sub Category, Violence- 0 out of 0 possible knives

Sub Category, Drama- 0 out of 0 possible hearts

Sub Category, Experimentation- 0 out of 0 possible ideas

"Think before you comment"

submission: Angry
date: April 6, 2008

It would have been 7.5, but there's no option for half-stars.

Anyway, not that bad. I understand what this was all about. The voices kinda creeped me out, which is what I think was your point. Just out of curriosity, how pissed off were you when you were making this, or were you just being creative and working hard on it? And I'd guess frame rate is upwards of 35 fps for that glitchy affect you were going for, and frames were upwards of 10-15? ON TO MY REVEIW:

Graphics: I'm going to give your art a 7 out of 10 Shiney Rocks. I can tell how difficult this must have been to make. I myself am an up-in-comming artist. In otherwords, I'm learning how the hell to draw. I understand how hard drawing crap is, and for that, I appreciate this flash. However, you kinda ripped off the angry face, which took away some points. But overall, better than average, so you get a 7.

Animation: Your glitchy effect and the fact that this must have taken you a long time gets you a 9 out of 10 Frames Per Second. I'm also learning how to use flash, and right now I think the most complicated thing I can do is make a very basic lip-synching animation, so I know how hard flash can be to deal with. Also, the 666 thing was cool, and I think it is a very good experiment you have put together here.

Sound: Creepy and wierd, but in a very good way. Because you took the time to edit this and do some really cool stuff with your audio, you get 8 out of 10 Microphones. Anyway, I'm good with sound myself, and I think you did great with this. You could tell what he was saying, but just barely, which was cool. It was also need how everything was so drawn out and gave you the feeling of pure rage and hatred that I think you were going for with this flash.

Concept: I like your concept here. I think your experiment with layers and such was cool, and for doing something I've never really seen, you get 6 out of 10 lightbulbs. Since you yourself told us that this was a really random concept, I'm taking off points, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Overall, its a cool flash with a good concept. Anyway, keep up the work.

Author's Response:

Thank you. I enjoyed reading this actually. The FPS was 24. But it lags on my computer. I worked hard and i was not pissed. This was my little experiement with a really fast angry flash. I was disapointed with the score. I think its because people want a concept not just an experement.

"Lol"

I always get a huge chuckle out of Pilze... but I think this was the best yet. "Agoraphobia is the fear of people named Gore, much like how Araknaphobia is the fear of Iraquis!" lol.
